Nola

Nola - Played by Tracey Brown

Nola is a very pretty, very talented girl who knows just what she's working with and exactly how to use it. Anyone who knows her would describe her as confident but, like anyone else, she deals with insecurities too. Mainly how to be successful, how to be a good daughter, and sister, and mom, and if life would be better for her in or out of Killeen. Nola has always been the backbone of her family but this pressure becomes even greater after her father passes and her brother returns from war with severe PTSD.

Lamar - Played by Will Branch

Lamar is a kind and dutiful guy who's life revolves around family and sports. Full of potential, Lamar goes to college on a basketball scholarship but he never quite reaches his dream of playing in the league. After spending some time a superstar overseas, Lamar returns to his humble beginning to take on the role of father and caretaker son.

Hemi

Hemi - Played by

Hemi is a fun and creative guy who finds the positive in anything. Though he can't seem to keep himself out of trouble, he always manages to take care of everyone around him - family, friends, and eventually students. Coming from a big, Samoan family with hello siblings and even more cousins, Hemi is used to having to stand out for attention. He dreams big and he's talented if he can only get out of his own way.

Malia - Played by

maybe me, idk

Malia, much like Nola, is also pretty and talented but much less sure of herself. Though it seems she's had everything handed to her from her (seemingly) stable, two-parent home, Malia struggles to see her self worth and to push herself to reach her own potential. While loving and loyal, she often projects her insecurities on those around her. Like Hemi, Malia must learn to get out of her own way not to find success, but to find happiness.

Carmen

Carmen - Played by

Amanda Reyes

Carmen is an open-minded, judgement-free safe space for all her friends. She is wise beyond her years but incredibly light-hearted. Carmen is extremely observant and, like Lamar, is motivated by her duty to her family and even her country. Coming from a Mexican household, her mother previously undocumented, Carmen has a unique perspective and a surprising sense of patriotism, but not without fair ciriticism and awareness of her role in the machine. While she is not based on her, I would like for Carmen to be a nod to Vanessa Guillen who was abused and killed right here at Ft. Hood.

Roy - Played by

Like Carmen, Roy also carries a sense of patriotism and a duty to serve country and community. After losing his dad on 9/11, Roy's family life turns him into a sensitive and hyper-aware person who tries to always see the big picture of things and influence change wherever he can. Roy is truly a lover boy and a family man and is driven by his love for Killeen and for politics. He thrives under the boundaries of expectation and tradition and it takes his rambunctious friends to get him truly feeling loose and free.
